Couples Therapy

Hello and welcome to my website! I am so glad you found me, and if you are reading this you are probably seeking help.

I have over 20 years experience as a  Marriage and Family Therapist, and Couples psychotherapist.

I now offer either in office or virtual sessions.

My training and education includes learning and applying methods from Gottman to Sue Johnson to Terry Real's Relational Life Therapy.

Every one of us bring our own unhealed wounds to the relationship. These deep unhealed places are triggered by our partners, who, believe it or not,  were exquisitely designed to "stick that burning spear right in our eyes" . Then the unhealthy behaviors, patterns of coping, that we learned in our childhoods, and from the world,  how we are socialized, are put in place like a dance that we do over and over, never resolving the issues lying at the core.  Over and over we play out the same dance, there is no mechanism of  repair.

I join with couples through the "truth" of what I see happening, and name the losing strategies, the stance, stance, dance. Then you can decide if you want to do the hard work of healing your own wounds, in order to "take each other on" ( in a healthy relational way most of us have no clue how to do) instead of tip toeing, placating, pretending there isn't a problem, resentments and discord and disconnection build until the next time it gets triggered.  Over and over. Let me help you get out of the deadly patterns that  lead to divorce, break ups, "marital hatred". It doesn't have to be that way. If you want help, hep is here.

Every couple have unique needs, and I apply what will work best for that couple. My approach is relational in nature. I work with each individual to help heal childhood wounds, which most of us carry into adulthood. These wounds are what stands between healthy relating and the endless loop of repeated and failed attempts at repairing the dysfunctional patterns that wreak havoc in any relationship.

I am very approachable, down to earth, and intuitive, and I am flexible enough to know that if one method isn't working, there are other ways to deal with issues.

Whether you are in a newer relationship, or have been with your partner for many, many years, taking the first step to get help can be scary. If you've had past failures with couples therapy, it is understandable you may be hesitant to seek help again. Taking the first step and make the call to start therapy can be intimidating. I assure you won't be sorry doing that....you can reach me at 210-542-6162.
